The public will be able to view special glassware on display during the North Shore Art Sale as well as works by other local artists this Saturday (April 9).

This event will take place between 11am and 3pm at the Pentland Hotel in Thurso.

One of the exhibitors, glass artist Ian Pearson, will present an exhibition of technical glass. Although Ian works mainly in an artistic direction, he pays homage to his scientific glass training.

Ian said: “We’ve been told over the past two years that we should listen to science, but what many don’t know is that creating scientific glassware is crucial to scientific progress. This includes the development of a Covid vaccine that would have been impossible without glass.

Ian goes on to say, “This year 2022 has been recognized by the United Nations as the Year of Glass and I wanted to promote an unknown type of glass to a wider audience.”

With this in mind, Ian will be giving away copies of an internationally renowned technical glass magazine at the sale. Ian is the current editor of this publication and has been for thirty years.

Many other artists display their work for sale and will be happy to discuss commissions and provide more details about their creativity.
