The National Association of Police Organizations honored nine Oklahoma City police officers this weekend in Washington, DC, for their work in their investigation and actions in one kidnapping and two homicides. In November 2020, a suspect was shot and killed in a shootout with Oklahoma City Police said they kidnapped a child – which triggered an Amber alert – and killed two people. One policeman, Officer Zachary Barby, was shot and not seriously injured from his bulletproof vest. “We are proud of these women and men who did not hesitate to react and protect. Congratulations!” Oklahoma City Police Department officials posted on social media. In May, Governor Kevin Stitt awarded Barby the Oklahoma Purple Heart for his actions.
