Over $ 600,000 Awarded to Upper Peninsula Arts and Culture Organizations | News, Sports, Jobs

MARQUETTE – Thirteen entities in Marquette County have received a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.

Council members recently announced that $ 176,275 has been allocated to the County of Marquette, with 12 entities from the Town of Marquette and one from the Town of Ishpeming.

The organizations that received funding were the Hiawatha Music Co-op, $ 11,250; Lac Supérieur Theater, $ 13,750; Liberty Children’s Art Project, $ 11,825; City of Marquette Arts Week, $ 7,600; the Marquette City Band, $ 10,450; the Historical Society of the County of Marquette, $ 19,500; the Maritime Marquette Museum, $ 16,250; the Marquette Symphony Orchestra, $ 16,250; the regional educational service agency Marquette-Alger, $ 12,000; Superior Arts Youth Theater, $ 18,750; the Superior String Alliance, $ 13,750; the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum, $ 19,500; and Ishpeming Public Schools, $ 5,400.
