Everything you need to know about the Focus V Carta e-Rig for cannabis concentrates
As the legalization of cannabis continues to take hold in North America and around the world, concentrates are increasingly available to the masses. Once generally reserved for cannabis veterans looking for a more potent high, dabbing concentrates from a contemporary dab rig might seem too harsh for canna-curious newcomers.
To some, the traditional dabbing process may seem a little intimidating and time consuming, but the emergence of electronic dab rigs, also known as e-rigs, have made consuming concentrate easier and less intimidating. One of the most popular devices in the electronic platform market is the Focus V Carta, released on February 15, 2019.
Consistently compared to the Puffco Peak, which is another highly coveted electronic vaporizer, the Focus V Carta has positioned itself as a smaller, cheaper option for newcomers and seasoned consumers who want an easier, more accessible way to dab. concentrates.
What is the Focus V Carta?
The Focus V Carta is an e-rig that aims to reinvent the way concentrates are consumed. It is compact, portable, stylish, and allows consumers to enjoy concentrated, temperature-controlled, water-filtered vapors.

Designed for dabbing on the go, the Focus V Carta, shown at left, comes complete with a carburetor cap, dabbing tools, USB charger, alcohol wipes, and a carrying case.
Sporting a white and dark gray body, the Focus V Carta offers a host of tech features, such as Bluetooth functionality and haptic feedback, that help the user turn on the device or cycle through temperature settings. The Focus V Carta is programmed with four preset temperatures:
500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Celsius)
630 degrees Fahrenheit (332 degrees Celsius)
770 degrees Fahrenheit (410 degrees Celsius)
842 degrees Fahrenheit (450 degrees Celsius)
Like the Puffco Peak, the Focus V Carta uses a single button to power the device and also toggle between temperature settings. While the Carta is technically designed to be a hybrid vaporizer, compatible with both concentrates and flowers, it seems to be better suited for dabbing. The flower atomizer tip must be purchased separately and costs $ 30.
The design of the Focus V Carta is quite simple and can be divided into three main parts. There’s the base, which holds the 18350 rechargeable batteries and includes the power button and four LED lights. The glass mount secures the water filtration system and can easily be attached or removed from the base. Finally, there is the atomizer and the heating chamber, where the tampon is placed and heated.

The atomizer and heating chamber, one of the three main parts of the Focus V Carta electronic platform, is where the pads are placed and heated.
With the Focus V Carta, users can seamlessly switch between a titanium or quartz banger, depending on their personal preferences. The quartz insert is designed for flavor while the titanium chamber is better at maintaining the set temperature. There is also a carburetor cap that can be attached around the atomizer, making it easier to retain heat in the chamber while the pad is vaporized. Equipped with a USB-C cable, the Carta can be fully charged in just under an hour and will last around 30 shots before needing to be recharged.
In addition to the device itself, the following accessories and parts are packed inside the compact travel case:
How do you use the Carta Focus V?
Using the Focus V Carta is pretty straightforward, so straightforward that the manufacturer was able to squeeze the entire instruction guide into a small, foldable brochure that came in the travel case. Here’s the gist of this step-by-step guide:
Install the two 18350 batteries into the battery box located at the bottom of the Focus V. Carta.
Before you can use the Focus V Carta, the first step in the process is to charge the device using the USB-C charging cable. The Carta will take about two hours to fully charge. When the device is ready for use, the LEDs will stop flashing.
Fill the glass with water until the water reaches almost the entire top of the percolator. Be careful not to overfill the device with water.
The next step is to load the bucket inside the atomizer with the concentrate of your choice. Take the tamponade tool supplied with the device and take out a tampon. Gently place it at the bottom of the chamber so that it is properly vaporized. Alternatively, if you want to take the traditional dab rig approach, you can heat the device up first, then insert the dab while pulling on the mouthpiece.
Turn on the device by clicking it five times and cycle through the preset temperature settings with each subsequent click.
Once you’ve selected the temperature, sit for about eight to 10 seconds while the atomizer heats up. The lights flash blue as the Focus V Carta warms up, turn green and start vibrating when the temperature is reached, indicating that it is time to take your dose.
While inhaling through the mouthpiece, place the removable carburetor cap over the chamber to retain heat and maximize dose.

The Focus V Carta makes it relatively easy to stamp. An atomizer, sold separately, also allows you to vaporize the flower.
Keeping your Focus V Carta clean
An important detail not included in the getting started guide is how to clean everything properly after use. The travel pack comes with a handful of alcohol wipes, but there isn’t much information on how to properly clean and maintain the device.
After each buffering, the Focus V Carta chamber should be cleaned promptly after each buffering. This can be done using a cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing), which should help remove any leftover concentrate from the most recent session.
For a thorough cleaning, remove the atomizer and soak the rest of the parts in isopropyl alcohol. Instead of letting it air dry, users are recommended to use a fan. To clean the glass fixture, you can use the same method as you would for clean a piece of ordinary glass. Remove the glass accessory from the base and immerse it in a resealable bag with isopropyl alcohol and coarse sea salt, allowing it to sit until the residue comes off.
What’s the call?
While old-school dab enthusiasts might prefer the usual method involving a blowtorch and dab rig, the Focus V Carta offers a more accessible and less intimidating way for others to enjoy these very potent products. Unlike the traditional timely buffering process, which requires users to heat the banger and wait for it to cool to the desired temperature, the Focus V Carta reaches its preset temperature settings in just 5-8 seconds, allowing users to effectively buffer in a fraction. of time.
Compared to the Puffco Peak, the Focus V Carta is slightly more compact, it heats up faster and also allows users to replace the batteries when the device loses its charge, making it slightly more attractive to those who want to travel with their e – rigging without having to worry about keeping it loaded.
It should be noted that there are some concerns about the design of the Focus V Carta. Several members of the FuckCombustion forum have complained that atomizers burn out after only a few uses and require replacement. “Last night, going through and still seeing all the constant warranty posts from people here and elsewhere, I thought I’d better check it out and good thing I did, it is blocked and I will need ANOTHER guarantee [atomizer], ” wrote a member.
“For those of you who burn atomizers much faster than most of our customers,” a account associated with Focus V replied in the forum. “I can assure you this is not a widespread problem (although some would like to believe that) we have over 10k units on the market now and less than a 5% warranty rate on all atomizers on the market. [A]Although I would like to bring that down to 1% or less with the new everlast. “
Priced at $ 250, the Carta is also significantly cheaper than the $ 380 Puffco Peak, so more frugal smokers may find the lower cost to be the main draw. There are some perks that may make Puffco Peak a more preferable option, but most of them are strictly cosmetic. While Puffco arguably has a sleeker design and a more elegant feel, the $ 130 price difference may not be worth the slightly more luxurious appearance.
