CASPER, Wyo.– The holidays are in full swing and the weather has finally taken notice. Hearts and bellies will be warmed indoors during family-friendly festivities, including a holiday-themed fantasy ball and a Rising Star rendition of “The Nutcracker.” Although this is the critical time for Santa Claus, he also makes a few appearances in the oil town.

Holiday Art Market at ART 321

ART 321 welcomes more than 20 artists and artisans and will exhibit its newly renovated basement during its Annual Holiday Art Market.

“Little women” at stage III

The Stage III Community Theater debuts “Little Women,” a dramatization that plays closely with Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel on which it is based, on Friday, December 3.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, December 10 and 11. A Sunday, December 12 matinee will be played at 2:00 p.m. The play will have its final performances Friday through Sunday next weekend.

Tickets are $13.50 for adults and $11.50 for students and seniors.

Dream Upon a Princess Holiday Ball Saturday at the Lyric

“It’s an evening of fun that every little prince or princess will enjoy.”

Rising Star presents “The Nutcracker”

Rising Star Dance Studio will present the holiday classic one day only this Saturday.

Hands-on history, model railroading at the Trails Center

Guests are invited to view and operate a variety of model trains. Members of the Casper-based Central Wyoming Model Railroad Association will be on hand to help and educate train enthusiasts.

The exhibit will be open at the Trails Center, located at 1501 N. Poplar St. (near the Ford Wyoming Center), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and throughout December. More information about Oil City News’ CWMRA is available here.

The hands-on history club for all ages meets at 10 a.m. on Saturdays and kicks off its holiday lineup on Saturday, December 11 with “Holiday Victorian Papercrafts”

Local Author Book Signing at Wind City Books

On Saturday, December 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., local authors Gayle Irwin and Debra Moerke will be signing books and promoting their latest works at Wind City Books.

“Gayle will have her previous books from the love series on pet rescue here, as well as her latest ‘Paws-ing for Love: A Pet Rescue Story,'” event organizers said. “Debra will present her story ‘Murder, Motherhood, and Miraculous Grace: A True Story’.”

Santa Claus will be at the outdoor ice rink at David Street Station on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Santa at Old Town Family Fun

Lunch with Santa includes a “family lunch, hot chocolate bar, crafts, [and] visits with Santa Claus for photos and presents.
