Davines Group celebrates International Happiness Day with launch of new Global Happiness Report

Davines Group has long been a part of the global conversation about individual and collective well-being and happiness.

The company not only focuses on the happiness and well-being of its stakeholders, but engages in a constant dialogue on the value and the feeling of happiness at the individual and collective level, as an indicator of socio-economic development.

Davide Bollati, Chairman of the Davines Group, explained: “At Davines we see happiness as eudaimonia – the ancient Greek word that refers to human growth and prosperity.

“In Aristotle’s work, eudaimonia was used as the term for the greater human good, and so it is the goal of practical philosophy, including ethics and virtue.

“The pursuit of this kind of happiness is what inspires us every day about who we are and what we do to be the best for the world.”

With this in mind, the Davines Group was motivated to partner with the World Happiness Report in 2020.

The first report was published in April 2012 as a basic text for the United Nations (UN) N High-level meeting: Well-being and happiness: defining a new economic paradigm, attracting international attention.

The first version described the state of happiness in the world, the causes of happiness and misery, and the policy implications highlighted by case studies.

In 2013, the second report was published and in 2015 the third.

Since 2016, it has been published annually on March 20, to coincide with the UN International Day of Happiness.

Over the years, the report has proven to be a valuable tool for governments, institutions and businesses to reflect on aspects that determine people’s happiness and, therefore, to implement strategies to promote the well-being of people. communities.

2020 has been a year like no other, and the 2021 report focuses on the effects of COVID-19 and the response of individual countries, with particular emphasis on happiness and well-being.

In the 2021 report, the authors discuss:

How COVID-19 has affected life expectancy and well-being
The impact on mental health
Social connections
Work and absence from work
Live well and live long: the WELLBY approach (Wellbeing-Adjusted Life-Years)

“It is increasingly clear that the issue of happiness in the world must be addressed today, in order to prevent and slow down the environmental, social, economic and health crises which seem to overlap more and more frequently,” he said. said Bollati.

“The strong interdependence between the various global crises is becoming very clear. Today, a new model of sustainable development, which is redefining the way human species inhabit the planet, is more necessary than ever.

Whether it is in the way that ideas on the topic of happiness are applied to individuals, cities, nations, the economy and the planet, or whether happiness is studied as an objective or subjective value, this topic the way in which man lives on Earth remains at the center of the main reflection.

“I hope this report will help us increase global happiness, through the virtuous and joint work of the public and private sectors, academics and spiritual leaders.”

The Davines Group invites everyone across the world to celebrate the International Day of Happiness on March 20 and to register for the 2021 Report Virtual Launch Event at 11 a.m. EST.
