Whether fine art is your fantasy or scientific exploration is more your speed. It’s easy to get lost in a museum. Tonight, Anthony Everett delves into a new exhibit at the Science Museum, then heads to the galleries of the National Gallery.



THE GALLERIES AT NFA, TBU TONIGHT, WE ARE DIVING INTO A NEW EXHIBITION AT THE MUSEUM OF SCIEE.NC ENTERTAINMENT AND EDUCATION GO HAND IN HAND AT THE BOSTON SCIENCES MUSEUM. >> WHEN WE DESIGN EXTSBI, SOMETIMES THE COMPONENT THAT SUCCESSES US HIRES SOMEONE FOR 30 SECONDS, FOR A FULL MINUTE. SOME OE EXPERIENCES WE TEST WAS WAITING FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES THEY WERE REALLY COMMITTED, REALLY WANTED TO SOLVE A CHALLENGE. >> LYDIA BEALE DEVELOPS THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS OF THE SEMUUM. OUR IT ISN’T JUST ABOUT THE FUNCTIONING OF COMPUTERS, BUT ALSO HOW TO USE THEM TO SOLVE PROBLEMS? >> I TAKEN THE DIVE AND SPLASH CHALLENGE, THE INTERACVETI EXHIBITION THAT DEMONSTRATES HOW ENGINEERS MEET DESIGN CHALLENGES. >> WE WANT YOU TO BUILD A PHYSICALLY DIVER THAT WILL SHOW HIMSELF IN THIS VIRTUAL WORLD. WHAT YOU DESIGN IS DISPLAYED, THEN YOU CAN LEAVE IT. >> OH! IT WASN’T D.BA >> ENGINEERS NEVER BUILD THINGS RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. THIS IS YOUR SIZE SO FAR. YOU GOT IT? >> GOOD, WE’LL TRY, BY GOLLY. >> I LOVE. IT’S A LITTLE LIKE A TOP. >> IT’S FALLING FAR ENOUGH, HOWEVER. THIS IS MYAS THE WORST SPLASH. THE EXHIBITION IS DESIGNED TO HELP KEMA WITH THE PRINCIPLES OF ACCESSIBLE ENGINEERING AND COMPUTING. MAYBE IT WILL INSPIRE THE NEXT BIG IDEA. >> 10 OR 15 YEARS AGO, WE WERE ASKING THE KIDS WHAT THE ENGINEERS DO, AND THEY COULD SAY THINGS LIKE TRANSMISSIONS OR STATIONARY CARS, AND I THINK IT IS PART OF THEIR VOCABULARY. HIS VOCABULARY. THINK THIS IS REALLY A PROBLEM-SOLVING COMMUNITY THAT WE HOPE TO ENCOURAGE THE NEXT GENERATION OF THESE PEOPLE. >> THE BOSTON MUSEUM OF FEIN ARTS IS AN INSTITUTION THAT CELEBRATES CREATIVITY, THE STAFF OF THE UT B MUSEUM DURING THE PANDEMIC HAVE LAUNCHED CREATIVITY AT AN EVEN HIGHER SPEED. >> IT’S DIFFICULT TO THINK WHAT WE CAN DO AT THE MUSEUM, WHAT WILL HAPPEN. IT WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME. THINK WHICH EXHIBITIONS WILL BE OPEN. >> DESPITE THE CHALLENGES, THE CURATOR AND HER COLLEAGUES WORKED TOGETHER VIRTUALLY TO BUILD A NEW EXHIBITION. FIRST THECRY BROUGHT A LIST OF ART OBJECTS THAT MUSM EUA WAS ACQUIRED OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS. THEY THEN SHARE THE LIST WITH COLLEAGUES ACROSS THE MUSEUM IN THE HOPE TO MATCH THE NEW ITEMS WITH JIM’S FROM THE MUSEUM CAR. >> VERY COLLABORATIVE PROJECT. >> THE CURATS OR DESIGNERS FOLLOWED SOME GUIDELINES TO MAKE A NEW LIGHT, MEETINGS AND CONNECTIONS WORK. >> THE FIRST MUST BE IF YOU TAKE SOMETHING OUT OF COLLECTION STORAGE, MAY IT BE SOMETHING THAT HAS NEVER BEEN EXPOSED BEFORE. WE ALSO SAID WE WERE NOT ON SITE MOST OF THE TIME, SO SOMETHING EASY TO OBTAIN. >> THIS IS BY LOCAL ARTISTS INCLUDING A VERY INDIGENOUS ROCKS. >> THIS IS PART OF THE FOUNDERS ‘PROJECT. HE REIMAGINES THE STUDENTS AT GHHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, BOSTON AS THE LEGENDARY GENERATORS OF THE WEST AND CENTRAL WEST AFRICAN GROUPS. WHAT IS INTERESTING IN THESE PIECES AND HOW THEY ARE, AS, PAIRED, WE SEE A KIND OF CROSSROADING IN TERMS OF TRADITION AND ALSO, AS, IT WORKS. >> A BOSTON-BASED CRAFTSMAN CREATED A SHELTER IN PLACE AT THE START OF THE COVID LOCKOUT TO KEEP BUSY. >> I HAVE BECOME A GALLERY AND ASK OTHER PEOPLE TO SEND US THEIR MINIATURE WORK AND WE CAN SHOW IT ONLINE. WE HAVE BEEN CLOSED FROM OUR STUDIOS, AND GALLEESRI IS WORKING ON CLOSED, AND MUSEUMS HAVE BEEN CLOSED. WE JUST WANT TO MAKE PEOPLE WORK AND GIVE THEM A REASON TO START DOING THINGS AGAIN. >> THE PLACE SCULPTURE GALLERY PRESENTS THE WORK OF A LOCAL ARTIST. >> THIS WAS AN OPPORTUNITY AT A TIME I WAS NOT WORKING, I HAD NOT ACHIEVED REAL PHYSICAL OBJECTS IN A TIME, SO I JUMPED.
