The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art is pleased to announce the return of its ‘Secret’ Biennial Art Sale, Aldrich undercover.
For 2021, Aldrich undercover was reimagined as a virtual event featuring live musical performances and an online art sale. Over 100 ancient artists will contribute original 9 x 12 inch artwork in any medium of their choice for sale to benefit the Museum. All works are priced at $350 and sold anonymously, with the identity of the artists only revealed after purchase. Guests are encouraged to trust their instincts, follow their hearts and make selections based on how the works move them.
Aldrich undercover will take place online May 6-9, 2021. Tickets are required to access the sale and can be purchased at thealdrich.org.
The event will start with Aldrich Undercover Covers, a pre-sale online launch party hosted on Zoom Thursday night at 7 p.m., featuring contemporary artists transitioning from art to music and performing covers of popular songs! Music artists include Roz Chast, Michelle Segre and Steve DiBenedetto, and B. Wurtz. The online art sale will follow the musical performances and will open at 7:50 p.m. sharp for VIP ticket holders and at 8 p.m. for Patron and General ticket holders. VIP ticket holders and patrons will have the opportunity to preview the works from the sale on Wednesday 5 May, a first in Aldrich undercover the story. All ticketing levels will have full access to the virtual launch party, the Aldrich Undercover Covers performances and the sale of art.
In addition to Aldrich undercover “secret” art sale, artists Bryan Nash Gill (1961-2013), Harmony Hammond, Andy Mister and Hayal Pozanti each brought important works to offer for sale. These works are not part of the $350 lump sum sale.
All proceeds benefit Aldrich’s dynamic exhibits and educational programs. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the Museum depends on the support of fundraisers such as Aldrich undercover. The Aldrich has been deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, having had to postpone exhibitions and cancel public programs on site. To support the Museum in these uncertain times, the graduate artists responded enthusiastically to our request to create works for Aldrich undercover.
